Authorities said she was shot and killed and the child was left in the car to die.

Monday officials said Richmond Phillips killed the mother and child because he didn’t want to pay child support, according to WJLA.

Police arrested Phillips in June of 2011 after 20-year-old Wynetta Wright’s body was found in a park where they met.

Authorities found their baby daughter, Jaylin, dead in her car seat with the car doors closed and the windows rolled up.

She was just days from her first birthday.

Richmond’s attorney said his client in innocent and said the evidence is circumstantial.
